If you’re a novice Preloved user – or even a seasoned user, lookout for this scam.
First, you get a message notification on your Preloved account window.
This advises you that one of the items you’re selling has been purchased.
This shouldn’t happen – you should just receive a message from a prospective purchaser – that hopefully will turn into a successful sale for you.
The message advises you delivery will be handled by Royal Mail and requests you complete an online form.
Of course the form is just a request for your credit card details – and once the scammers have that you can say goodbye to your hard-earned.
A notification to Preloved security saw this scammer’s account cancelled – but there are more to take his place.
This time of years, scammers are out in force. Don’t let any vulnerable friends or family get duped. Advise them to check and double check any messages requesting details of their bank accounts.
