Police have released an efit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an attempted robbery on the towpath of the Macclesfield Canal.
At around 10.00pm on 4 May 2015 a 35-year-old man was jogging along the canal towpath with his dog when, as he passed bridge 36, just north of Barracks Lane, he was approached by the offender who grabbed hold of his dog lead. The offender then threatened the man with a Stanley knife and demanded his iPhone 6.
At this point the victim realised there was another man present. He refused to hand over his phone and a struggle ensued.
The victim then received a puncture wound to his chest, and there was a further struggle before the offenders rode away on their mountain bikes empty handed towards the Puss in Boots pub.
The victim went to Macclesfield Hospital to be treated for injuries to his chest and arm and was subsequently discharged.
The main offender is described as white, clean shaven, 5ft 10ins tall, aged 18 to 19,and of slim build with a long nose.
He was wearing a dark beanie hat, dark coloured round necked sweatshirt which was long-sleeved, slim fitting dark blue jeans and black footwear. He also wore thin black work-like gloves that were either latex or thin leather. It is thought he had a Wigan or Bolton accent.
The second man is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, aged 18 to 19 years old with shaved dark hair, possibly grade one length.
He was wearing a dark sweatshirt and a black polo type shirt with the collar up. He was also wearing dark black jeans or bottoms, and dark footwear.
