Transport police have issued CCTV images after a conductor was assaulted on a train between Manchester and Macclesfield.
The victim was roughly pushed aside by a passenger when she asked for his ticket.
The assault took place on the 1.27pm CrossCountry service from Manchester Piccadilly as the train pulled into Macclesfield station at 1.45pm on Saturday, August 1.
PC David Lawrenson, investigating officer with British Transport Police (BTP), said: “The female member of staff was conducting a ticket inspection on the 1.27pm CrossCountry service from Manchester Piccadilly.
“As she passed through the carriages she noticed a toilet that had been locked for some time. Out of concern for the welfare of the person inside she knocked on the door.
“As the train pulled into Macclesfield station a man emerged from the toilet. She asked him for his ticket but he could not provide it.
“As the train doors opened the man barged past the staff member, knocking into her and pushing her aside to leave the train. Her colleague had to grab hold of her to stop her from falling onto the platform.”
British Transport Police want to speak to a man captured on CCTV in connection with the incident.
