Workers made redundant following the Bosley Wood Treatment disaster have been offered the potential lifeline of new jobs within the community.
Cheshire East Council has received a number of offers of employment for those who lost their jobs in the wake of the Bosley incident.
Twenty workers who were employed at the flour mill were made redundant earlier this month.
So far a total of 22 businesses have registered potential employment opportunities with the council.
This includes the council’s own arm’s length company Ansa Environmental Services and it’s highways partnership with Ringway Jacobs.
Council leader Michael Jones said: “We’ve been appalled at the treatment of these people by the mill owners so we are only too pleased to be co-ordinating with local businesses to find them suitable employment elsewhere when they are ready.
“We are working closely with our colleagues in Staffordshire to ensure we all do what we can to support those people who have lost their livelihoods.”
