Last of the Summer blooms at Lyme

Lyme, Disley, Nr Stockport, Friday, 4 September, 5.15pm – 8pm

As summer draws to a close, there’s a last chance to enjoy an evening opening of Lyme’s beautiful gardens on Friday, 4 September.

“It’s a lovely, relaxing way to start your weekend” says Kat Croxford, Lyme’s Visitor Services Manager. “The late summer gardens here are looking gorgeous – particularly the Edwardian rose garden which blooms later in the season than elsewhere because of Lyme’s position, high up on the edge of the Peak District.

This season we have two stunning new roses in the garden: Rosa ‘Rosie’ which is bright red with lots of small blooms, and Rosa D’Arcy Bussell – a beautiful plum red rose with a wonderful scent, and which produces many blooms.

Our huge herbaceous border and swathes of summer bedding are in full flower – so the gardens really do look glorious, and are full of colour”.

The evening will be complimented by the sounds of jazz drifting across the gardens, courtesy of the Ged Hone Jazz Band, and you’re invited to bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn by the lake. Alternatively, picnics for two people can be ordered in advance at £20: please call 01663 761404.

Tickets to Lyme’s evening garden opening are £15 to include a glass of Pimms and must be booked in advance. Please note the event is for over 18s only. To book tickets go to www.nationaltrust.org.uk/lymepark. The garden gates open at 5.15pm.
